Power's not one for feeling emotions like that, since they don't come naturally to her -- so feeling it, so true and honest and real, is really the most armour-piercing part of the entire memory. The pain of being hit, she can handle. The madman's ramblings and the shocked horror/disgust of those around them, she doesn't fully understand.
